Mental Health Awareness

This course aims to increase delegates' understanding of mental health issues and conditions. There will also be opportunities to discuss strategies and approaches to support people with these conditions.
Alongside this, there will be time spend on developing an understanding of the mental health sector and range of mental health services.

  • Name the myths and stereotypes relating to mental health
  • Identify the broad range of mental health issues and conditions your clients experience
  • Explain depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, psychosis and personality disorder and how they are diagnosed and treated.
  • Explain key treatments and self-help strategies for the conditions above, including the purpose and function of mental health services.
  • Explain the key principles of the Recovery model.

    Housing related professionals including sheltered housing managers, estate managers, housing officers and rent officers. Also suitable for managers who supervise front-line staff or have a specialist development role in mental health services.
