    This course trains advisers/staff to provide advice and assistance to residents in the areas of budgeting, managing their finances and debts and to understand the complicated Universal Credit system. There have been substantial changes to the Welfare and Housing Benefit systems particularly with the introduction of the Universal Credit which are having significant implications for claimants.Universal Credit is paid to claimants on a monthly basis. This immediately raises issues for some residents in being able to budget and manage their money and pay their housing costs.

  8. Housing Law for Supported Housing Workers

    Starting with a risk assessment strategy, this course then seeks to offer participants strategies for avoiding the potential hazards on working on their own. It examines why clients might pose a risk to us and what are some of the signs, both overt and subtle, that a client might be about to become aggressive. It then examines calming and de-escalating strategies, looking at some strategies that are unique yet powerful in calming clients so that they don’t pose a risk to lone workers.
