    This course provides an introduction to basic terminology used in housing construction, providing an insight into the places in buildings where problems can arise. The course provides information on what to look for, and how to identify and record deficiencies including disrepair and dampness in dwellings. The course also looks at the legal context of house inspection, reviews the basic legal liabilities and the way of identifying hazards in residential accommodation under the Housing Act 2004 (the Housing Health and Safety Rating System). Delegates will prepare an inspection report, putting what they have learned into practice and setting out legal assessments of conditions described.
