    The Homelessness Reduction Act (HRA) introduced new duties on local authorities for those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Following implementation of the Act from April 2018, this course covers the duties to prevent and relieve homelessness and looks at applicants’ right to review.

    Delegates will consider how the duties apply to a range of threatened homelessness situations, looks at the new public authority duty to refer and identifies the review and appeal rights that arise from the new duties.

    This training will cover the new obligation on landlords introduced by The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 to keep their property "fit" and the rights it gives tenants to take legal action where their landlord fails to do so. It will look at the new non-statutory guidance issued by the MCHLG to help tenants, landlords and local authorities understand the Act which comes into force on 20 March 2019.
