FAQ - Condition Guide
We feel really lucky at Shelter to receive excellent quality donations from our supporters. These items are either donated to our charity shops and posted to us via our Sort & Send service.
The only preloved items that we list for sale are those we judge to be in a sellable condition.
We appreciate that what this means can vary from item to item, so use a five point condition scale to label our items (you can see each item's condition and what this means on each product page) -
Clothing & Accessories
Brand New – This item is brand new, with the original tags still attached or in its original box/packaging.
Used - Excellent -The item is not brand new but has no visible imperfections, this includes no minor wear such as bobbling or pilling, no fading, or marks anywhere on the item.
Used - Very Good – The item is used but has been maintained to a high standard. It should only have very minor signs of wear.
Used - Good – The item is used but might have some imperfections such as bobbling, pilling, discolouration or marks.
Used - Fair – The item is used with defects, but still deemed sellable. It could have bobbling, pilling, discolouration, threadbare areas, marks and maybe a button or belt missing.
Books & Everything Else
Brand New – This item is brand new – sealed or in original packaging.
Used - Excellent – As New - The item is not brand new but has no visible imperfections – this includes no wear/tears to pages or items, no writing on pages.
Used - Very Good – Used, but no tears/scratches or major flaws. May show some normal effects of time on the item.
Used - Good – Used but well maintained. May have some slight imperfections, detailed in the listing.
Used - Fair – Shows some wear and tear or defects, but still in reasonable condition.
